1965 - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Bill Wyman were arrested after urinating on the wall of the Francis Garage in London.

1972 - Neil Young earned a No. 1 hit with “Heart of Gold.” The song became his only solo single to reach the Top 30.

1973 - At London’s Earls Court, Pink Floyd performed Dark Side of the Moon from beginning to end.

1975 - The film version of The Who’s Tommy premiered in New York, presented in “Quintophonic Sound.”

1977 - The Clash released their first single, "White Riot."

1989 - Phil Collins and his wife Jill welcomed daughter Lily Jane.

1994 – Police confiscated four guns and 25 boxes of ammo from Kurt Cobain’s home after his wife, Courtney Love, called fearing he was going to take his own life. The efforts were ineffective, as Cobain committed suicide less than a month later.

1994 - The Rolling Stones announced Darryl Jones as the replacement for Bill Wyman.

1996 - The Sex Pistols reunited for a 20th anniversary tour.

1997 – The Foo Fighters added Taylor Hawkins in lieu of former drummer William Goldsmith.

2001 - John Phillips, who was a founding member of the Mamas & the Papas, died of heart failure in L.A. at the age of 65.
